Congratulations to our Grade Three students on beginning the exciting journey of learning a musical instrument! This is our first year beginning the study of recorder in Grade Three here in Westford and we think it will be a great experience for our young musicians.
Already we have learned the notes B,A, and G and are working hard to create beautiful sounds on our recorder. Your Grade Three student should be practicing about five minutes a day for four days a week to reinforce the basic skills of finding their notes, covering the holes completely with fingers and breathing very gently into the recorder. Common causes of squeaking include
blowing into the recorder or not covering the holes completely. So far, we have learned "Hot Cross Buns" and "Variations on "Hot Cross Buns." We also began composing our own variations.
Please help your student to remember to bring his or her recorder and music folder to class each week. Questions? Please e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks so much for your help and support of our young musicians!
